This irascible form of politics knows they are in danger. People who are criminally guilty focus on less guilty things for a reason. People who are guilty criminalize the ending and the decriminalizing aspects of opportunism. The terror plots did the same; why make a big deal out of nothing? Was this about terrorism and violence or was this originally about law schools and legal degrees, world war? People who are guilty focus on criminalizing others because to decriminalize them is suicide. They knew it was suicide and they knew the cold war ended. However, for some Americans, the cold war has not ended. Now it was a matter of detecting them, identifying them, and trapping them; before the genie is let out of the bottle again. They do not seek the truth and they certainly do not offer it. Instead, they prefer to criminalize others and exploit it for their cash cow or system of justice. This is why they knew they were going to die for this, identifying them meant they did not have any brakes and did not seek a desirable outcome. It is a toxic spill and contaminated by liabilities, damage claims, and control that blew up like an atomic bomb in their face. Their anger was the result of an atomic face lift they were too embarrassed to peel back and show as their battle wounds. Therefore, they not only wrecked up our biographies, they tried to keep it criminalized when it was not. The decriminalization is so fraught with error and stupidity; they did not know why they were poverty stricken or what inflicted their defeatism; pure debt and a refusal to refund or pay damages. By criminalizing the ending, they did not seek the truth and concealed the evidence, a criminal conspiracy detected at the highest levels of government powers.
One aspect of this irascible inclusion, a criminal world, is the ability to kill at will. It does entail the ability and inability to control the world or win back what is rightfully ours, legitimacy. However, when you have to win back every facet of your life from an illogical political enemy, the legitimacy of the government is in question. You have a climate of insurrection and the inability of the police to determine either their cause or solution. It is how it is for a reason. There is insurrection in progress. How do you reconcile with people who sit on the fences of their own total destruction or total loss? It is inconceivable the problem is the solution, us and them. The world they created is now alienated and they must find home, who and where is home? They have started bipolar warfare on every living planet and now expect us to coexist with them in the most lawful and acceptable ways imaginable. They spent the entire past century criminalizing or decriminalizing each other and now they focus on us, not them? You never reconcile with people who are doomed. It will doom your chances of survival. You never reconcile with human beings when it is inconceivable they are the problem, the police and the nationalism of their police forces; us and them. The world they created is still false and completely false or inadequate; win or lose? Does it have to get worse or better; go away? Is their despair going away or only on a march to war similar to the past century? How do you make it better if they made it worse? This is ours. This is theirs. We are not in this together. This is not theirs and will never be theirs, only ours. This is the end of who pays us or them? In this case, defeatism is world war and the loser always pays the cost of world war, the problem from the start. They claim they have to eat and this is their dinner supper, a calling. Circus monkeys perpetuate mistakes. This is inevitable. However, what makes it so special is they are fully conscious and aware they have been detected and cornered. “Westmoreland said, ‘Your command has the most dedicated Vietnamese. They were born and raised there.’ The biggest city is DaNang. He said that there is great temptation to enjoy life by making love to women and eating very good food. But that is not what it’s going to take to win the war over here. life! He said, ‘I could reduce you in
rank. Instead I’m going to give you a
medal for this action. I’ll make sure my
troops get the word that nobody fights these troops from the South Vietnamese 1st
Division.’ General Westmoreland agreed
that that division was as good as any
… I worked so hard for Lt. Gen. Walt. He was such an honest man. He never changed his mind and he would tell you what he wanted done. He’d say, ‘Here’s your time to ask questions.’ I was his deputy and some marine officers were jealous, because I was army. He could have made anyone his deputy. He and I got along so well. General Walt had helicopters that were armed; my helicopters were not armed. When you bring in the king of some country or a dignitary, you don’t put them in an armed helicopter or they may get killed. So General Walt used my helicopters. He was an outstanding leader.

… This man was very smart – a sergeant major in my command who was going to be very high in the U.S. Army. He went out with some Vietnamese soldiers and was caught by surprise. The North Vietnamese tied him up to an ant hole (ant hill) and he was eaten alive. Nobody ever knew why they did it – they just did it. The North Vietnamese didn’t care what they did. They just did miserable things to make the Americans unhappy. I ran across the body later. When I found the body, I was so mad. What a miserable way to die! I swore that as I traveled around, I would have plenty of security and plenty of fire power, and that I would be as equally brutal with the Viet Cong as they were with us. End of story.
… Agent Orange was the most effective way to defoliate the jungle, and I was one of the heavy users in 1966 and 1967. It was first used in 1965. The chemicals were dropped out of planes, killing the trees in the area, and leaving the chemicals on the ground. It was dropped the way crops are sprayed in the states. Due to the dense jungle area where I Corps was located, I became a major user. Each time there was spraying; I walked over the area, inspecting to see what was done. I had heard stories about the effects of the chemicals, and made sure that the people doing the work took precautions. I checked up on the work accomplished every day, wearing the required globes and face mask.
I took pictures of the area. Everyone who did the work filled out a form
that was sent to the Pentagon. Agent
Blue and Agent White, used earlier, did not cause damage. My guess is that it took about six months for
people to feel the effects of Agent Orange.
I had those effects, but thought it was something else. I Corps was made up of the seven
I paid a price for Agent Orange. It was the cause of my three brain tumors, causing dizziness, inability to walk in a straight line, intense headaches, major pituitary damage, and many other physical side-effects which I have never overcome. Others were not as fortunate. Those still fathering children sometimes saw the effects of Agent Orange appear in the next generation. Agent Orange was one of the serious side-effects of the Vietnam War – one that was not anticipated, and one which we hope never happens again.
… An interesting note here. On 9/11, the plane hit the Pentagon in the area where I worked. As White House liaison with the army, I had an office in the White House and another one in the Pentagon. Every morning I reported to the White House by 9am, but by then I had already worked at the Pentagon for three hours. LBJ was in the oval office at 9am. One of my officers as a Tuskegee-educated lieutenant colonel and he was top of the line. When the president went somewhere he hadn’t been before, this officer went along, because he had such a good memory. He became a general later.
… After Martin Luther King’s
assassination and the problems and riots in
… The Saturday Evening Post had
hired her to do a series on the life and activities of General Bradley. That’s where he really got acquainted with
Kitty. Some time earlier they had met on
Kitty and I became very close. I kidded General Bradley years before that he didn’t have anyone to take to these ceremonies, big dinners, and other affairs. I told him I would get him a date. He would say, ‘I don’t want to get a flapper. I don’t want a young kid. Just somebody I can talk with and laugh with.’ So I went to see Kitty. I arranged a date. At one time they were meeting twice a week for the writing. Kitty always knew how to tease General Bradley, to joke with him, and more. When Kitty wrote something, her grammar was perfect; her punctuation was perfect. She was good!
I think Kitty was probably attracted to the general’s position at first, but they grew very close. It was tender. As a matter of fact, after he died I went through my pictures of the Bradleys, found one of the general and Kitty holding hands. I also found a picture of his master sergeant’s retirement ceremony. He had been with the general since World War II and kept things organized, took out dry cleaning, ran errands, etc. The master sergeant didn’t have much money, so General Bradley raised his pay all along, and got a doctor and a nurse to be home with him when he had a mini-stroke.
General Bradley had a special ceremony on a Saturday morning, in which he gave this man a Legion of Merit. He had photographers on hand. It was a good story. I had taken pictures of all the people there, and while somebody was reading the nice citation, there stood General Bradley and Kitty in the crowd holding hands. I had just the two of them isolated in the picture, and had it enlarged and framed and sent to them. Kitty replied with a very sweet letter. That picture was used in 2004 with Kitty’s obituary.
… During that Pentagon tour, I
started the Omar N. Bradley Foundation at Carlisle Barracks, PA. It was established to house many of his
writings and artifacts. There are also

… In 1968, I was called in to see Army Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ralph E. Haines. He had given me a list of things to check on, and I gave him the results. When we got done, he said, ‘That’s very fine, Arch. And there’s one thing I want you to do and that’s start a Bible study for general officers.’ We used the term Prayer Breakfast and Bible Study more or less interchangeably.

We as Americans, can take great pride in their dedication and unswerving devotion to their country’s welfare. They have served their country and fellow men loyally.
We who remain to continue our service pause now to bid them farewell. We are deeply indebted and thankful to these men whose steadfast allegiance to the United States Army and the principles of freedom for which it stands, were always foremost in their minds. This ceremony, in a small way, is recognition of our appreciate to these men and their families; of men who have been the ‘brave men who worked while others slept, who dared while others shied.
I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank the wives and families of these retirees who have had much to do with the long service of these men have given their country. They smiled and made a happy home when circumstances certainly didn’t warrant it; when the paycheck didn’t arrive, when the best dishes were broken in the move, when the children changed schools and friends every year, when family quarters weren’t available after being promised they would be. They’ve been a vital part of the army and we appreciate it.
As you go to civilian life, you will find much you have learned in the army will stand you in good stead. We wish you all the best of good fortune and happiness as you enter the civilian community. Our loss is their gain, for wherever you are, you will continue to make worthwhile contributions to our society. Take with you our thanks for a job well done, and the assurance that we shall endeavor to live up to the example of service and dedication that you have set.’
